This trip to Utah was something we had been looking forward to for a while. A girls’ trip, eight days, and somehow we managed to see and experience so much in what felt like no time at all.
We started in Salt Lake City, which honestly reminded me a bit of home. It had that same balance of city and nature, something that felt familiar right away. From there, we made our way toward Moab and later Loa, and I loved how different each place felt.
Moab had such a peaceful energy to it. Walking through downtown felt calm and easy, and then within a short drive, you’re surrounded by something completely different. Arches National Park didn’t even feel real at times. We made our way through the park, stopping along the viewpoints and taking it all in, from places like Balanced Rock and The Windows to Delicate Arch and the Garden of Eden viewpoint. Knowing there are over 2,000 natural stone arches there is one thing, but actually standing in front of them is something else entirely. Everywhere you look feels unreal in its own way.
Canyonlands felt wider and more still, like everything slowed down for a moment. We explored different viewpoints throughout the park, taking in spots like Mesa Arch and Grand View Point, each one opening up to something even more expansive than the last. Bryce Canyon was completely different, full of texture and detail. The hoodoos almost didn’t look real, especially as the light shifted throughout the day. Capitol Reef, which we reached while staying near Loa, felt quieter and more remote, but just as beautiful in its own way.
Some of the most memorable moments came from places like Spotted Wolf Canyon and Pine Canyon. They felt more personal, less crowded, like we were inside the landscape instead of just looking at it.
Loa itself was a completely different pace. A much smaller town, more quiet, and a bit more removed. It took more time to get out to certain spots, but that made everything feel more intentional.
But more than the places, it was the experience of it all. Being there with my girls, laughing, exploring, and just fully present. Eight days felt so full, yet went by so quickly. Now being back home, it almost feels like it never even happened. I catch myself wondering if I was actually there.
Going through the photos has been what brings it all back. It makes it real again. The light, the feeling, the moments we shared. I’m so grateful to have that, because without it, it would be so easy for everything to blur together and fade.
If you scroll down, I’ve shared some of my favorite moments from the trip.
This trip reminded me why I love photography so much. It’s not just about capturing something beautiful. It’s about holding onto a moment that would otherwise pass too quickly. Being able to come back to it and feel it again is something really special.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a session, let this be your sign to do it. These moments pass faster than we think, and having something to come back to, something that holds that feeling for you, is worth it.
